The other morning I saw what appeared to be a bald eagle perched on one of the houses in South Fork. I saw it out of the corner of my eye on the way to work. The first thing that caused me to notice it was that it was the biggest bird I've ever seen. Then I noticed the white head. I thought I was crazy, but then my wife saw it the other day.

Has any one else seen it? I'm not a bird person, so I have no idea if it is common for them to show up in Florida this time of year. Anyway, for those of you in the area, be on the lookout for it. It's pretty amazing.

That's funny. My cat got out the other day and the first thing that crossed my mind was him ending up as eagle food. Luckily he doesn't venture too far away from the porch.

There was one circling over my place Saturday. He made the buzzards look small by comparison.

Keith, you remember the maimed Rabbit that you and your buddy found a few months back. The buzzards carried it over behind my barn and were fighting over it when a Bald Eagle flew down, picked up the Rabbit and flew off with it. It was pretty amazing to watch. That Rabbit probably weighed more than the bird, but he didn't have any trouble flying off with it.

The county dump is about 3 - 4 miles east of me and there are a lot of Eagles living there. The people who work there see to it that they don't get messed with. I guess they take care of the Rat population at the dump.

I think the population has grown quite a bit recently because they are being sited all over the south lately. I saw this one in the parking lot atop a power pole next to Ray Jay Stadium before the U2 concert about a month ago...>>> [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]

There was a bald eagle here a few weeks ago! You aren't crazy.
