Live by 301 and big bend, Have to choose HESS over 7-11 for better deals on beer.

Any diamonds in the rough.

We have been on a Miller High Life kick here, quantity over quality.

Years ago shortly after the Food Channel first came on they had a guy who hosted one of their shows. I forget his name but anyway, he was doing a show on caviar and the proper way to prepare it and eat it. At the end of the show he had this elaborate table laid out with all kinds of caviar, chopped eggs, bone spoon, the whole works. Then he starts talking about what to drink with caviar and how most people think sparkling wine is the best, but not him. What does he pull out from behind this silver ice bucket? A bottle of Miller!!!!!! I fell on the floor laughing my ass off. :-)

The only beer I like is Labatts Blue and I haven't found a convenience store that sells it. Some liquor stores carry it, and of course my new best friend at the drive through beer castle on 301 always keeps me stocked up on it but I noticed he doesn't even keep it out on display, he always goes in the back to get it.

last week I discovered Publix sells it, so I thought that was cool. But they also had to go in the back to get it, I just happened to notice that there was a sign saying Labatts Blue was on sale but they had no beer out on the shelves, twice this week I had to ask for it and they went in back to get it.

But it is more expensive here than NY.

Quality over quantity with Labatts...if ya drink to get drunk it's worth it.

In my opinion it's one of Floridas best kept secrets..:listen:

Labatts and Molson's Bradors ahh the old days. I had friends who went to school at SUNY Plattsburgh back in the '70s & 80s. Every Friday after classes they would drive over the Canadian border, pick up about 20 cases and party back at the dorms.

The year I met my wife, she was going to school in Buffalo, I drove up to see her one October weekend in my CJ5 and we went over the border to visit Niagara on the Lake. I was told by my buddies not to come back unless I bought some beer home, so I loaded up the Jeep with 35 case of Bradors and Labatts and drove home 350 miles on the NYS Thruway with a cargo net holding down the beer. I had it piled up almost as high as the roll bar and all the truckers blew their horns when they passed me. I remember I had to pay 35 cents duty on each case but I don't remember what a case cost.

I just came back from a trip to Maine and I picked up some Gritty McDuffs IPA. Gritty's is a brew pub in Portland and they make some excellent brews.
